TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A new air carrier is serving the Tupelo market. This morning, SeaPort Airlines began service out of Tupelo Regional Airport. As expected, each flight was almost empty but airline officials said during today’s ribbon cutting it expects to prove itself to customers who want cheap, reliable service to Memphis and Nashville.

The Portland based airline was chose to replace Silver Airways after it announced early this year it was leaving the Tupelo market. The airline was plagued by baggage, scheduling and service problems that Seaport has promised to avoid. SeaPort officials say they are ready to make a positive impact in the market.

“We’re trying to get folks back out to Tupelo Regional Airport, get on board, try it, tell your friends and neighbors, it is a different experience, it will be on time, it will be reliable and we want to get folks back to this airport.”

SeaPort will offer flights seven days a week. The introductory fares run through November.
