CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Nearly 200 fishermen dipped their poles in Choctaw Lake for the second annual Kids Fishing Rodeo.

Families from surrounding areas came out to the Tombigbee National Forest in Ackerman to enjoy fishing with their loved ones.

Kids were able to catch up to 10 catfish. Prizes were given out to those who caught catfish with a colored tag.

One fisherman says this event helps promote family time in the great outdoors.

“A kid or grandson or either one they spell love t-i-m-e. Spending time with them so if you want your kids to love you, you got to spend time with them,” says Lyn Black.

New fishing poles and tackle boxes were among the prizes given away.
