STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The closure of a two block section of Starkville’s downtown Main Street will continue at least two more weeks.

But the handful of businesses impacted say it’s not been a major problem yet although their business is impacted at times.

The street has been closed from Felix Long to Lampkin streets for several weeks for construction of a new city hall at the west end of Main Street.

The closure most impacts two small retailers who depend on access for customers from Felix Long Drive. They said today they are hurt during their busiest times because customers have to walk further. They hope the street will reopen soon and the relocated city hall will attract more customers.
