WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The doors are open at the Eupora Head Start Center, but the buses aren’t running yet. The eighty Webster County children already enrolled at the Center are back in class. Transportation could start in the next few weeks.

CDI Head Start took over operations at head start centers formally operated by Central Mississippi Head Start. This involves families in six counties.

In addition to this Webster County facility, head start schools in Montgomery, Choctaw, Attala, Carroll and Holmes Counties were shut down in November.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services tells WCBI that CDI has a plan to serve all children previously enrolled in Head Start and Early Head Start by mid-February.

In the meantime, Head Start staff is making weekly home visits to children and their parents.
