Video: Southside Blues Festival Grills Out for Independence Day

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Individuals can enjoy blues music from several groups throughout the day at the Southside Townsend Park, as well as free ribs, hot dogs or chicken.

But participants say July 4 is about more than just grilling out.

“A lot of people think just about food, and eating, and coming together, but to celebrate our nation, to celebrate independence that we have when you think of it, to be just so blessed to be in a nation, being in the United States of America,” Florida resident Madelyn Clair said.

Organizers say there will also be a special blues concert at 8 p.m. at the park.
