TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s on it’s way to Los Angeles, but this evening the Flame of Hope Special Olympics torch came through Tupelo on it’s way to the World Games later this summer.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson ran the final leg, along with Taylor Rosenthal who will be competing in the games with his dad, Shannon High School Principal Bill Rosenthal.

The World Games has one specials needs athlete and a teammate.

“We play alternate shot golf for nine holes. Taylor hits a shot. I hit a shot. Then whoever teed off the whole before tees off the other person tees off the next hole.”

Los Angeles Law Enforcement are riding along with the torch on its Southern Trek, which will make a stop at the Toyota plant in Blue Springs tomorrow.
