STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) Aldermen take strides on the Starkville Police and City Hall renovation project. Architect Gary Schaefer presented the board with three initial options, ranging in cost from $2-$6 million dollars.

From securing Cadence Bank to gutting the current building, city leaders now have a better idea of what this project is going to cost.

After crunching the numbers and a unanimous vote, they have ceased talks about the acquisition and renovation of the old Cadence Bank building, an option that’s been on the table since last fall.

Alderman are once again turning their attention to gutting 65% of city hall, leaving the Starkville Police Department to operate out of the front portion of the building, while administrative offices would be moved to the back.

That would leave 35% of city hall for further renovation and growth.

It would cost more than $2.4 million to complete. This does not include exterior finishes or parking.

Their budget is set at $3 million dollars. They will make a final decision in the next four weeks.
