STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) After about a decade of trying to establishing a permanent municipal place of government in the city of Starkville, we now know what it will look like.

Starkville city leaders have unveiled a new architectural rendering of the new city hall project site at 100 Meigs Street. The project done is through a public private partnership and the city will own the leased property in 20 years.

There is a $6.7 million price tag attached to the new city hall, and an additional one point three million for renovation of the old city hall that will house the police headquarters.

“Moving the city hall component and the court functions to this building, we also create additional space that can be renovated in the existing city hall for the police department,” said Briar Jones, Thomas Shelton Jones & Associates.

“This is an issue that has plagued the city for many years. We are happy not only to be moving forward but we are happy to be moving forward in a way that everybody can be proud of in this community,” said Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman.

The project should take three years to complete.
