COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Several friends, families, and students came out to support a Starkville High School teacher and his family. A benefit was held for Art teacher Andrew Lark and his family to help raise funds after the family lost their home to a fire in January of this year.

Many former and current students donated art work for a silent auction. Students also shared classroom stories, and told of how Lark has impacted their lives. The family was overwhelmed at the community’s support.

“It’s a great honor to see students and parents and those that care about you and how God has blessed you,” said Lark. “I’m just really proud and to see how people moved to help my family.”

The benefit raised about $3,700.00. In the last five years, Lark’s students have received over $5 million in scholarships.
