Video: State Ag Man At West Point Rotary

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — West Point Rotarians did lunch downtown at the Ritz Thursday afternoon.

A special guest from the state ag and livestock theft bureau told those present how to protect themselves from thefts of property and animals. Attendees at rotary got some helpful information on keeping their farm stuff safe from would be burglars and cattle rustlers.

“Such as branding livestock you know keeping a good inventory of your equipment. And just kind of knowing what, keeping up with your property. Cause a lot of folks they’ll have farm property they may not go to once or twice a month. You know, that’s an open door to thieves,” said Jeff Stewart of the Ag and Livestock Bureau.

A relatively new agency, the theft division of the State Department of Ag and Commerce was formed in 1993.
