COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The state board charged with approving new charter schools in the state will visit a proposed Columbus school first-hand Tuesday.

The board will hear a presentation from the organizers of the Inspire Charter School, and take comments from the public starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The forum will be at Genesis Church on 23rd Street North where the school should be located.

The Columbus proposal is one of three still being considered by the state.

A decision will be made June 2nd. If granted a certificate, the Columbus school would start this fall with an afterschool program, and open initially serving grades K-3 and grade 9 in August 2015.
