JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – The state has issued 286 million in new bonds for everything from economic development projects like Yokohama to construction at MUW and Mississippi State. And state Treasurer Lynn Fitch has refinanced millions more in older bonds, saving taxpayers 36 million dollars in interest payments. Fitch says the bond issues mean the state can invest in needed projects while getting the most for taxpayer dollars.

“It adds up to so many things. Certainly economic development, and we’ve got different corporations that use the money, we have the Institutions of Higher Learning, community colleges, museums, other projects that bring in great growth to our state.”

Fitch spoke today to the Lowndes County Republican Women.
