Video: State Treasurer Introducing Financial Education Plan

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi’s State Treasurer is launching an initiative to help public school students learn about managing money.  The initiative is called TEAM, which stands for the “Treasurer’s Education About Money.” It is a public-private partnership that will make personal finance education resources available to high school students statewide.

State Treasurer Lynn Fitch made the announcement at Tupelo’s Renasant Bank, which is a sponsor of the project.

“Unfortunately this is a national trend, all states are in this predicament, as is our nation, so what do we do, we take action. This is being very proactive in beginning to turn and have the opportunity to teach those children and change our financial culture.”

Mississippi has been named as among the least financially capable states in the nation.
