COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–The Columbus Exchange Club announces its annual State Trooper of the Year Award.

Mississippi State Trooper John Mark Dickerson of MHP Troop G in Starkville receives the prestigious honor during the Columbus Exchange Club Luncheon Thursday at Lion Hills Center and Golf Course.

Dickerson a Louisville native has served as a Military Police Officer with the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2009. Dickerson has worked at the Winston County Sheriff’s Department.

“Our supervisors. I mean top-notch guys. Of course as well as my every day, the men I work the road with they are top-notch. You couldn’t ask for a better group of guys to work with. It’s just a real honor, words can’t really express just how I feel to be here,” said John Mark Dickerson/State Trooper of the Year.

Trooper Dickerson now competes for the State Trooper of The Year Award to be held in Jackson. Troop G is responsible for patrolling a ten county area of the state.
