Video: Still no Official Word on a Launch Date for Seaport Airlines in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -The Tupelo Airport Authority is still awaiting word on when Seaport Airlines will officially begin service. In August the United States Department of Transportation officially approved the Portland Oregon based carrier to provide service to Tupelo using nine passenger Grand Caravan planes like the one shown here. Seaport will replace Silver Airways which announced in April that it would discontinue service.

Tupelo Airport Director Josh Abramson told WCBI News today that they still awaiting word from the DOT about an official start date though it is expected to be sometime in October.

Seaport’s contract is for two years and it will receive 2.5 million dollars in federal subsidies to operate in Tupelo.
