Jumpertown, Miss.(WCBI)–After being tossed around, a Jumpertown couple survives Wednesday’s deadly tornado by making it to their prepared safe place where they literally rode out the storm.

Jumpertown resident Maylon Shelton and his wife Cheryl can no longer say their home faces County Road 7100. A deadly tornado changes that, as their home is lifted off it’s foundation. Shelton had just arrived home from work as the tornado approached.

“And he stepped out on the back porch and our weather radio with the alarm went off and from the time he got to the back porch over there, where ever it is now to there, which was just like 30 seconds it was here. It was on top of us,” said Cheryl Shelton/Tornado Survivor.

Having a plan in place….the couple headed for their food pantry next to the chimney.

“House started shacking, bouncing up and down. And it lasted about 45 seconds,” said Maylon Shelton.

What use to be the position of the front door, is now a door facing their yard, in a totally different direction.

“Where there was a flower bed, a concrete flower bed in the front of the home. And now its setting under the living room floor. Got the living room floor swelled up,” said Maylon Shelton.

“And I lived in Texas and I went through many tornadoes, but never this. Never one that hit directly on my home,” said Cheryl Shelton.

Five of the The Shelton family dogs also survived the tornado, even though a kennel out back was crushed by a huge tree.
