STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – An Oktibbeha County boy is giving back to his elementary school, as part of an Eagle Scout project.

Warren Smith is now in the eighth grade, but wanted to make a difference at his former school, Henderson Ward Stewart Intermediate School, by building an outdoor classroom.

Smith says it only took him three days to actually build the classroom, but several months of planning for the project.

He says it’s very rewarding to become an Eagle Scout, and to see the finished product.

“I was really proud, ’cause I’d been working on this for eight years and I’d always wanted to be an Eagle Scout,” Smith said. “There were tons of people who pushed me on to do it, and getting it done was a huge accomplishment.”

Smith says the outdoor classroom will be used to teach the students gardening.
