MAYHEW, Miss. (WCBI) – More than 160 students competed for scholarships on the EMCC campus Friday. The high school juniors and seniors were participating in the 10th annual Scholars Olympiad.

Students took tests in a variety of academic and work force categories like welding and business management.

Students with the three highest scores in each category won a medal and scholarship money.

“They get an opportunity to see what EMCC has to offer and it’s kind of a win win because EMCC gets to kind of show off for a day for some of the best and brightest golden triangle students, and we hope to get them filling our class room seats pretty soon.”

The school that with the largest number of students to receive medals also won a trophy they get to claim until next year’s Olympiad.
