COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Over 400 students from 10 different private schools put their knowledge to use today at Heritage Academy.

Top students competed in 36 different subjects for district and statewide awards in the annual Academic Betterment Competition or A-B-C.

Educators say the day long event inspires students towards academic excellence.

“Hopefully each year students will enter their classes and say, hey, I want to be the representative for our school for the ABC test and they’ll put a little extra effort forward and we’re just promoting academic achievement and what that does for student, that it can open all sorts of doors for them,” said Dr. Greg Carlyle Headmaster for Heritage Academy.

Students ranged from grades 7th-12th.
