Video: Sulligent Working to Rebuild Downtown After Fire

SULLIGENT, Ala. (WCBI) -The town of Sulligent is making a comeback nearly a year after fire damaged its historic downtown. The blaze destroyed two buildings and damaged other businesses.

Mayor Scott Boman and city leaders are working to get new buildings built and businesses opened to fill the now vacant spot.

“Everything’s kind of been cleaned up and plans are underway to try to get some reconstruction going on in the downtown area where those businesses were actually destroyed. So it’s a working progress but we’re working on that as best as we can as the time permits.”

Both buildings were about 100 years old.
