CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A fight sends three inmates to the hospital and puts the Chickasaw County Regional Prison on lockdown Sunday night.

Warden Brand Huffman says it started as a pushing match about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, and escalated when other inmates joined in.

Jailers and other deputies and Houston police officers quickly arrived and had the situation under control within minutes.

Social media and other outlets described it as a riot, but prison leaders said that wasn’t the case.

Two inmates were treated Sunday night for a broken hand and stitches and another was taken to be checked out this morning.

Jailers searched the 300-bed prison this morning, but two cell phones were the only contraband found.
