COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Superheroes and sports, that’s the theme for the day.
At West Lowndes Elementary School, students dressed up as their favorite super hero or favorite athlete for the day.

It was all to reward the students for reaching their first nine weeks accelerated reading and math goals.

Every nine weeks the students are rewarded for achieving their goals.

“It keeps them reading. They’re eager to do because they never know what we’re going to do for them. So, they all want to find out at the end of the nine weeks, what’s going on and then at the end of the year, we really have a big celebration,” said Minnie Williams, library and media specialist.
After lunch time, the kids were treated to pizza at a tailgate outside.
