Video: Tagert Talks Clay County Projects

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Northern District Transportation Commissioner Mike Tagert says smoother roads are coming to Clay County.

He gave an update on projects to the West Point Rotary Club on Thursday.

Tagert also talked about Mississippi’s deteriorating bridges and how lawmakers are starting to address the problem.

Right now, plans call for road work on Highway 50 west and U.S. Highway 45 Alternate.

“Some overlay projects… significant improvement and maintenance on the Highway 45 Alternate corridor slated for next year, 2016. You know, there are vast improvements that are much needed. We’ve had a couple of winter, significant, winter events,” said Tagert.

Tagert is one of 13 candidates running in the First Congressional District special election.
