TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Teachers, faculty and staff members with the Tupelo Public School District spent their morning hearing about plans and goals for the upcoming year.
It was all part of the annual staff convocation for TPSD employees. They filled the Performing Arts Center at Tupelo High School, and heard about goals for the upcoming school year from superintendent Gearl Loden.

The convocation kicks off a week of professional development leading to the start of the school year next week.

“No matter how long you’ve been in education, I think the first day of school is always an exciting time, whether you’re a classroom teacher , whether you’re a principal or whether you work in the central office, because school is not school unless there are children in the building, because that’s why we are here.”

Students start the new school year next Tuesday.
