NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-One Noxubee County community kicked off the weekend with a Christmas celebration.

Parents and children came out to the 24th annual Sandyland Christmas Parade.

Noxubee County Sheriff, Terry Grassaree, led the parade followed by the local high school marching band.

One Brooksville native says he drove all the way from South Carolina to see the parade that honors the local children.

“Just try to do something for the kids basically show the kids support out here and give them something to look forward to. Support our schools and stuff and local neighborhoods. And I just come out here as much as I can to be with my community,” says Dewaii Tate.

After the event, parade goers were invited to the local community center for some lunch and a toy give-away.
