STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Testimony begins in the third trial of a former Mississippi State student accused of having a vintage military rifle on campus.
Jeffrey Hill was charged in September 2010 when Mississippi state police found the Russian military weapon and 440 rounds of ammunition in his unit at Aiken Village apartments.

Hill claims he didn’t know the apartments were part of M-S-U. A jury failed to reach a verdict in a January 2012 trial but he was convicted in May of 2012. He served his prison time before a state appeals court ordered a new trial. As he did the first two trials, he’s representing himself with the help of a court-appointed attorney. The trial in Oktibbeha County circuit Court could last through Wednesday.
