TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at one Tupelo Elementary are definitely getting in the Christmas spirit, with the help of an art project, and a special guest reader.

Michelle Guyton is the art teacher at Thomas Street Elementary and all of her students are painting Christmas ornaments.

The ornaments are made of clay and were purchased with the help of the PTO. Now, the students are painting their ornaments and they will get to take them home to hang on the Christmas trees.

“They learned about the whole clay making process and pottery making process where, the clay is put into the kiln and they’re getting prepared for the next steps at Pierce Street where they will actually work with the clay .”

Also, there was a big surprise for students and teachers at the school. The Grinch showed up right after lunch, and recited the book “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
