TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Former Lee County Justice Court judge Ricky Thompson is trying one more time to get his name back on the November ballot.

Thompson is drafting a new challenge saying attorney General Jim Hood ordered Thompson removed from the ballot using a law that does not apply to Justice court judges.

Thompson argues the state constitution only requires a justice court judge candidate to be a high school graduate and live in his district two years. He claims it makes no mention of a candidate being ineligible if they have been removed from office by a judge.

The argument also says the Democratic executive committee is required to submit the name of the highest vote getter. The case will be filed and heard in Hinds County.
