Video: Tombigbee River Bridge Named for Late Senator Terry Brown

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – He had many stories about crossing the old Tombigbee River Bridge at the Columbus Riverwalk. Now, it is named after the late state Senator Terry Brown.

State and local officials, along with Brown’s friends and family were there for the official unveiling of the markers Friday morning. The markers will will be at each end of the Terry W. Brown Memorial Bridge.

Brown served in the state House from 1988-2000. When he died, he had been serving in the Senate since 2004 and was elected as president pro tem in 2012.

“Its a great honor to be here today. To honor my father. Lt. Governor Tate Reeves, just everybody that’s here today. Its just I know that dad would be extremely proud.”

The Mississippi Department of Transportation will maintain the signs.
