WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – State health officials are now trying to deal with what to do with more than 100 thousand chickens killed when the storms came through Winston County.
A preliminary count shows 13 farms were impacted by the tornado.  61 chicken houses spread across those farms were damaged in the twister.  36 of those have major damage.  Much of the poultry loss is not from the actual winds but from the loss of power to the houses after the storm.   The department of health has built 5 emergency areas to dispose of the chickens.
