Video: Toyota Blue Springs Workers “Fired Up” for Special Olympics

BLUE SPRINGS, Miss. (WCBI) -About 20 team members at the Toyota plant in Blue Springs took some time out of their busy schedules to bring awareness to the Special Olympics.

The “Flame of Hope” which will light the cauldron at the opening for the 2015 Special Olympics in Los Angeles, is making its way through Northeast Mississippi.

Wednesday morning, team members from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi ran with the torch in front of the plant. The automaker is a national sponsor for the relay.

“Unified Relay is going through communities all across the country. We have three torches, northern, middle and southern torch, so we are reaching out to athletes who are participating in the world games, we have athletes from Mississippi who are going to be competing in the world games”, we are bringing them out here, they get to tell their stories.”

Toyota donated $5,000.00 to the Special Olympics. The international event begins July 25th in Los Angeles.
