HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – Another small town hospital is studying changes to meet the changing health care landscape.Trace Regional Hospital in Houston has advised its employees and the community that it is considering closing or sharply limiting its emergency room and opening a medical clinic that would operate 12 hours a day, seven days a week. Hospital leaders emphasize the facility is not closing and continues to operate in the black. But they say people using the emergency room for non emergencies continues to be an expensive problem. A clinic would be more cost-efficient. It also would better qualify for insurance reimbursements. The changes by the hospital’s parent company, Sunlink Health Systems haven’t been finalized.
