TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The only center in our area to serve autistic children has new larger quarters. The Autism Center of North Mississippi recently doubled the size of its headquarters in Tupelo’s Spanish Village office complex. The nonprofit is seeing double the number of kids compared to one year ago and they have also doubled the number of staffers. The move comes just as the center is starting its first annual fundraising campaign.

“Mississippi is one of eleven states that doesn’t require insurance companies to cover behavior therapy and also Mississippi Medicaid has not enacted the federal law requiring Medicaid to cover behavior therapy so the families who come here have to pay out of pocket, which is a huge financial burden for them.”

The center provides grants and scholarships through various individuals and companies who help out financially.
