Video: Tupelo Family Helps Others Get Through Grief After Son’s Death

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) —  A Tupelo family is ministering to others through their own trials and grief. It’s been five years since tragedy struck the Jasper family and now they are sharing their story of hope with others.

Five years ago this week, in a sudden accident, the Jasper family lost their youngest son and brother.

He was just five years old and full of life.

J.J. Jasper, and his wife Melanie, have now written a book that documents the story of losing their son.

“Obviously its any parents worst nightmare and I don’t have the words to talk about the shock and the horror but God was faithful to our family and he helped us to grieve well,” J.J. Jasper said.

The 19 chapter book, titled “Loosing Cooper: Finding Hope To Grieve Well” is designed to help anyone out who is hurting and wants to learn how to grieve.

“Any person who suffered loss, if you’ve lost a job, if your marriage has failed, if you lost a family member, or like us if you’ve lost a child, this book offers practical and Biblical help and its a road map to help you from where you right now to a place where you can say ‘I’m grieving well’,” Jasper said.

The book will be released nationally this Thursday but today, the family wanted their church home, Hope Church in Tupelo,  to have an opportunity to purchase the book to show appreciation for their continued support.

“We wanted to do this this morning as a way to say ‘thank you’ to our church members and we couldn’t have made it without the help of our community. This is an amazing place to call home. This gives me an opportunity to say thank you for the ones who prayed for us and continue to do that,” Jasper said.

The family is planning to host additional local book signings.
