TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Members of a Tupelo civic group were able to show their appreciation to area school counselors and administrators.

The Junior Auxiliary of Tupelo held a luncheon for counselors , nurses and principals in Tupelo, Lee County and Nettleton schools.

It gave the Junior Auxiliary a chance to update the school leaders about various projects the civic group plans to offer students throughout the coming year.

The Junior Auxiliary has many projects that help students and their families.

“There are some children who fall between the cracks, between Medicaid and insurance, and so they don’t get their eyes checked annually and need help with glasses, we are able to provide that for them and also to give them clothes in the fall and in the spring twice a year when they need supplies at school, or different things,” said Susannah Davis, Junior Auxiliary.

The JA provides two summer camps, and more than $25,000 a year in scholarships to high school graduates.

They also have a new program that helps tutor third graders who are struggling with reading .
