TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton says a company which salvages jumbo jets won’t get anymore city funds without some major commitments. Shelton says he will not veto this weeks $500,000 funding of repairs to the taxiway next to Universal Asset Management, but warns he will veto any further funding requests from the Tupelo Airport Authority that do not allow the council  ample time to review. The mayor maintains the huge jets are the ones damaging the concrete pads and Universal should bear some of the costs of repairs.  The company says its lease agreement with the airport requites the city to maintain the property.
