TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A new restaurant officially opens to the public in downtown Tupelo and makes a huge donation to the local animal shelter.

Tuesday morning, Mugshots Grill and Bar opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Before the event, Mugshots founders and the local franchisee donated $17,800.00 to the Tupelo Lee Humane Society.

This past weekend, the restaurant had what is known as a “soft opening” and all proceeds, above food costs, went to the animal shelter.

It’s part of the restaurant’s “Eat Good, Give Back” campaign and it takes place with every grand opening.

“I think the future’s bright, I think we will shine here, I think this store will be a staple of North Mississippi, we’ve been in this state for a little over ten years now, we started in Hattiesburg, our brand is strong and this community is strong , it was awesome to see the support for this brand and also for downtown Tupelo and the local business.”

The Tupelo restaurant is the 13th Mugshots to open. It employs more than 100 people and can seat about 250 diners.
