TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Property owners and merchants along Tupelo’s North Gloster Street business corridor are looking at ways to improve the area in the wake of the April 28 tornado.

This morning, a meeting was held for business owners and workers along the North Gloster Street business sector, which was hit hard by the tornado.

Discussions included possible future improvements as the area rebuilds. Some of those improvements could include sidewalks, additional traffic lights, and ways to recruit new business to the area.

Organizers say it’s part of an effort to help the area recover, and come back stronger from the destructive twister.

“There are a lot of options still on the table for the business owners,” Director of Development Services Shane Hooper said. “Some of them will choose to rebuild, some will choose not to. That’s up to the individual business owner. What we’re here to do today is to listen to them, and assist them in any way we possibly can to come back bigger and stronger.”

Eventually, information from the meetings will help the city and business owners come up with specific projects as the area rebuilds.
