TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The city of Tupelo went blue in support of autism awareness.

Employees were encouraged to wear blue shirts from the Autism Center of North Mississippi, and at the Park and Rec offices, they were selling autism awareness wrist bands for five bucks.

All proceeds go to the Autism center in Tupelo and employees at park and rec say they have special “Challenger” leagues for children with autism and other disabilities.

“We currently have about two weeks left on our softball registration so if you have someone interested, get with us , they get to play six or seven games during the summer and get that chance to be part of a team just like everyone else,” said Leigh Ann Mattox, of Tupelo Park and Rec.

This is the first year the park and rec and the city have gone blue for world autism awareness day.
