TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Salvation Army in Tupelo has been busy this week preparing for their annual Thanksgiving Day meal.

The Salvation Army served about 3,000 meals today to those in need in their community.

Every year, the feast requires more than 40 pans of dressing, several turkeys, dressing and many more sides.

The ladies of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary also delivered meals to those shut-in, and other people not physically able to get out.

Organizers said it wouldn’t be possible to host the dinner without the volunteers.

“It’s been a great day, Thanksgiving Day,” Tupelo Salvation Army Officer Jeff Daniels said. “We’ve had over 200 volunteers who’ve come in and been working since about six this morning. Been a real blessing, a true Thanksgiving celebration,”

The Salvation Army also delivered to the local police stations and others working on the holiday.
