TUPLEO, Miss. (WCBI)-Tupelo is joining other school districts across the region in returning to a 10-point grading scale. The school board approved the change Tuesday night after a year of study. The 10-point scale where 90 to 100 is an A and 80 to 90 is a B was the traditional grading scale for many years. But in the last decade, many districts went to a seven-point scale where 93 to 100 is an A. But because many schools across the country use the 10-point scale, school districts found it was hurting area students in competitions for everything from scholarships to insurance discounts that use letter grades to make choices. More than 70 percent of districts in the state have returned to the 10-point scale.
