TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A Northeast Mississippi school superintendent gets a huge honor.

Dr. Gearl Loden was named Superintendent of the Year by the Mississippi Association of School Administrators. Dr. Loden wasn’t told that he received the top honor until the news was broken this evening at the Tupelo School Board’s regular meeting at Milam Elementary School.

He credits his success to a great team.

“We have one of the best support staffs in the state that everyday are focusing on providing resources to our teachers, whether it’s training or materials or supplies, when you have great teachers in classrooms and administrators supporting them it makes your job a lot easier,” says Dr. Loden.

Now, Dr. Loden will represent the state at the National Association of School Administrators during its annual meeting next February in San Diego.
