Video: Tupelo’s “Week of the Family” Kicks Off

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo kicks off a week of family fun tonight by recognizing the work of some of its younger residents.

This year’s Week of the Family essay winners were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The event marks the beginning of the 4th Annual Week of the Family, a week dedicated to strengthening families through fun activities and community service.

The young writers expressed what their families mean to them.

“I named my essay ‘Why I Love My Family’, and I chose the topic, because I just thought like I knew the perfect answer.”

“It means to have someone look out for you and love you.”

Other events include: A family day at Oren Dunn Museum – Tuesday 9AM-4PM.  Fantastic Family Fun at HealthWorks! – Thursday 4 – 7 PM.  Family Fitness at the NMMC Wellness Center – Friday 4 – 7PM.  Family Fun Day at Fairpark – Saturday Noon – 2PM.  Artist Showcase and Civic Ballet at the LINK Centre – Saturday 6:30PM.  Family Fun With Music – Temple of Compassion and Deliverance Church – 4PM.
