COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Thanksgiving means Turkey and after a rough year for poultry farmers, prices might be a little higher this year.
Last summer, the bird flu was one of the worst in history.

Nearly 48 million turkeys and chickens were wiped out but at Sunflower Grocery Store in Columbus, the meat market manager says customers have no need to worry.

Their turkeys were booked before the bird flu hit, with prices already locked in.

He says if there is an increase, it will only be a nickel higher than last year.

Customers can expect to pay a little more than $1 a pound.
