Video: Two Charged in Tupelo Armed Robbery

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Two men are in custody, charged with armed robbery after police say they took a man’s car at gunpoint, scuffled with him at a nearby convenience store, then fled in the victim’s vehicle. Twenty-eight year old Leroy Geter and thirty year old Travis Key are both charged with armed robbery.Police say the pair approached a man Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of McDonald’s on Eason Boulevard.

The victim claims the pair took his keys,  then one suspect allegedly chased the victim through McDonald’s, and to the nearby Sprint Mart, where witnesses claim the suspect started fighting with the victim. Police say witnesses were quick to respond.

“9 1 1 started getting phone calls from witnesses, along with our victim, who made that call as he was fleeing from one of the suspects, who was chasing him with a handgun.  Once  9 1 1 received that information and dispatched it to our officers it was just a matter of minutes before our officers had spotted the vehicle and did a take down without any injury to anyone.”

The suspects were caught near Crosstown and arrested without incident.Police are still searching for a third suspect.Bond for Geter and Key was set at 100 thousand dollars apiece.
