Video: Two Tupelo High Students Are Annapolis Bound

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Tupelo High School seniors will serve their country as they study at the U S Naval Academy. This morning, during THS Senior Awards Day, First District Congressman, Alan Nunnelee, presented U S Naval Academy Appointments to Chandler Craig and Grant Thornton. The seniors went through a rigorous application process to receive the prestigious appointments. They will spend the next four years at Annapolis, Maryland.

Nunnlee explained, “They will finish the Naval Academy then they will go into the United States Navy or the United States Marine Corps as officers, they will be some of the best trained military officers in the world, we have had presidents, Supreme Court Justices, United States Senators and representatives come from the military academies.”

The value of the scholarships for each senior totals half a million dollars.
