Video: “Under the Knife” Plastic Surgery Not For Women Only
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Over the past two days we have met two women from our area who had cosmetic facial surgery for very different reasons.
In recent years, more and more men have elected to undergo plastic surgery. In part three of his series, “Under the Knife: The Changing Face of Cosmetic Surgery” Allie Martin takes the story to a personal level.
As many viewers know, a few months after I returned to local television, I started training for a half marathon.
Intense workouts, proper diet and lots of running took the pounds off, but there was one glaring feature that wouldn’t go away, unsightly under eye bags.
I wasn’t the only one who noticed, in fact one viewer, who said she was a nurse, emailed, concerned that I might have a heart condition, because of the puffiness.
I was referred to Dr John Griffin, who has practiced for years in the Golden Triangle and also works out of North Mississippi Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates and Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery in Tupelo. He performed an initial consultation, and said facial cosmetic surgery would definitely correct the problem, for good.
“Over the yearrs, as we age, this membrane fails, and fat protrudes,” he explained.
He went over every detail of the procedure, called lower lid blepharoplasty.
“We will make an incision, elevate a flap, find fat pads, remove excess fat, trim a little bit of skin, lay everything back nicely and suture,” he said.
Dr Griffin took pre op photos, then set a time for surgery and gave me specific instructions to make sure I was ready to go under the knife and knew what to expect for the recovery period.
“We know you are an avid exerciser, we would like you not to do anything for a week, in a week the sutures will be removed and then you can resume normal activities,” he cautioned.
A few weeks later I was at the offices of North Mississippi Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates and Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery.
Tomorrow in part four of “Under the Knife” we see results of Allie’s surgery and we have some tips if you are considering facial cosmetic surgery.
