Video: Unemployment Numbers For Mississippi and Alabama Brings Bad News

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — Unemployment numbers are March out, and the news isn’t good across the “Twin States.”

Mississippi’s unemployment rate is 7.6 percent, up two-tenths of a percent over February’s numbers. There are some 96,000 Mississippians looking for work across the state.

The bright spot is that the numbers are down 1.4 percent from this time last year.

Across the state line, things are much the same.

Alabama showed an increase in the number of people looking for work. The state unemployment rate came in at 6.7 percent, up three-tenths of a percent from February, and a tenth of a percent higher than this time last year.

On the positive side, there has been an increase in construction for the first time in several months.
