NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – Union County becomes the latest area to ban the sale of certain caffeine products to minors.

Supervisors have voted to make it illegal to sell any product containing 25% or more caffeine to anyone under 18.

Store clerks breaking the law will be fined $50.00 the first time with fines growing for repeat offenders.

Minors caught with the products don’t get off scot free. They will receive three hours of community service but no permanent record if they perform that service.

The law does not apply in cities and municipalities but New Albany is looking into a similar law.
