Video: University Staff and Law Enforcement Debrief After Campus Crisis

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, Miss. (WCBI) – Prosecutors decline to press charges against the Mississippi State student that prompted Thursday’s Maroon Alert.

On Friday MSU leaders and law enforcement met to evaluate their response to the active shooter call.The Crisis Management Unit on campus to discussed what worked and what things need to be improved.

President Mark Keenum commended the immediate response, saying it was done quickly and professionally. He also believes the university can better prepare itself for the future.

“We can always improve, and that’s what we’re going to do going forward because safety on this campus is paramount. That’s my number one job and that’s what I’m committed to and working with these professionals, I’m confident we can enhance and provide even more safety on our campus.”

Keenum says the university will look to train teachers and staff to better prepare for active shooter situations.MSU also wants to improve communication with parents and other law enforcement.
